Lothar's extensive use of Portuguese marble came about
with his fascination for bringing light
into the stone.
The translucency of Portuguese marble particularly enhanced this.
His manner of working changed diametrically.
First holes were drilled at diverse angles into a raw block,
then geometrically precise forms were formed around them.
Often enough the natural broken quarry surface, "madre cava"
was incorporated.
